“There was nothing made known to these men, but what will be made known to all the Saints of the last days, so soon as they are prepared to receive, and a proper place is prepared to communicate them, even to the weakest of the Saints.” — Joseph Smith1
The Anointed Quorum was a group of men and women who received sacred temple ordinances beginning on May 4, 1842, in Joseph’s Red Brick Store in Nauvoo. Nauvoo Temple construction progressed, as he taught the Saints about baptisms for the dead, endowments, and sealings (Doctrine and Covenants 84). He also taught about detecting false spirits (see Doctrine and Covenants 129). Amid growing tensions, he prophesied the Saints’ eventual westward journey.2
